Admission Checklist

Our Graduate Admissions page explains all the procedures to apply to our graduate program. Keep in mind the following points while applying to our program:

1. January 6 is the due date to receive completed applications to receive priority consideration.
2. Only completed application files are reviewed and considered.
3. Fall term is the only term for new admits, if requesting a teaching fellowship. In exceptional cases, students may be admitted for Winter or Spring terms.
4. Completed Application Files include the following:

• Graduate School online Application (automatically sent to RL Department, Admissions and Grad School). If manual application is used instead of on-line application, please follow directions on the form instructions on where/who to send.
• Departmental Application (mail to the RL Department)
• Statement of Purpose (mail to the RL Department)
• Transcripts: Mail official copies to UO Admissions, and a set to the RL Department
• Three forms and letters of recommendation. (A "form only" submitted by a referee will be considered a recommendation on its own, but a letter with the form is preferred). Mail to the RL Department.
• Native English speakers: GRE official scores (official copy to Admissions and 1 copy to RL Department).
• International Students: TOEFL or IELTS official scores (official copy to Admissions and 1 copy to RL Department).
• Ph.D. Applicants only: Writing Sample (mail to the RL Department).
