Admission Checklist
Our Graduate Admissions page explains all the procedures to apply to our graduate program. Keep in mind the following points while applying to our program:
- January 6 is the due date to receive completed applications to receive priority consideration.
- Only completed application files are reviewed and considered.
- Fall term is the only term for new admits, if requesting a teaching fellowship. In exceptional cases, students may be admitted for Winter or Spring terms.
- Completed Application Files include the following:
- Graduate School online Application (automatically sent to RL Department, Admissions and Grad School). If manual application is used instead of on-line application, please follow directions on the form instructions on where/who to send.
- Departmental Application (mail to the RL Department)
- Statement of Purpose (mail to the RL Department)
- Transcripts: Mail official copies to UO Admissions, and a set to the RL Department
- Three forms and letters of recommendation. (A "form only" submitted by a referee will be considered a recommendation on its own, but a letter with the form is preferred). Mail to the RL Department.
- Native English speakers: GRE official scores (official copy to Admissions and 1 copy to RL Department).
- International Students: TOEFL or IELTS official scores (official copy to Admissions and 1 copy to RL Department).
- Ph.D. Applicants only: Writing Sample (mail to the RL Department).
