Spring 2013 Commencement Information
All graduating French, Italian, Romance Languages, & Spanish Majors and Minors:
The Department of Romance Languages Ceremony:
The RL Departmental graduation ceremony will be held on Monday, June 17th, 2013 at 3:00pm in the Student Recreation Center (campus map). Tickets are not required.
April 8th-11th, 2013: Grad Fair at the Duck Store
April 12th, 2013: Last day to apply for Graduate Degree in DuckWeb
April 21st, 2013: Deadline for 'early bird' discount on Regalia Orders from the Duck Store
April 28th, 2013: Last day to apply for Undergratudate Degree in DuckWeb
June 7th, 2013: Last day of Classes for Spring Term (Final Exams: June 10th-14th)
Monday, June 17th: Commencement! Main Ceremony: 9am- Matthew Knight Arena. RL Dept. Ceremony: 3pm- Student Rec Center.
**All students planning on graduating in the Spring must apply to graduate in DuckWeb by the appropriate deadline**
-Graduate Students must apply to graduate in DuckWeb by Friday, April 12th
-Undergraduate Students must apply to graduate in DuckWeb by Sunday April 28th
Once you have registered in DuckWeb, your name will automatically be printed in the Spring 2013 commencement program.
I'm not graduating until Summer or Fall of 2013. May I participate in the Spring ceremony?
Students who have applied on time for graduation in Spring term will have their names printed in the commencement program and are welcome to attend the ceremony, where their names will be read aloud as they walk across the stage.
Students who are graduating in the Summer or at a later date are welcome to "walk" in the Spring ceremony and have their names read aloud as they walk across the stage; however, the names of Summer or Fall 2013 graduates will NOT appear in the program.
I graduated in the Fall of 2012 or Winter of 2013. Can I come to the Spring ceremony?
Yes! The commencement program will inlcude the names of all graduating majors from the Fall 2012, Winter 2013, and Spring 2013 terms. In addition to having your name printed in the program, your name will be announced as you walk across the stage if you are in attendance at the RL departmental ceremony on June 17th.
How many guests can I bring to graduation?
All family members and friends are welcome to attend the ceremony. There is no limit on the number of guests and tickets are not needed. Guests will be allowed to sit on a first-come-first-serve basis at both the Univeristy ceremony and the RL departmental ceremony. There will be plenty of seats available at both ceremonies.
What do I need to do for graduation?
1) Apply for graduation in Duckweb. The deadline to apply for graduation in the Spring 2012 term is Friday, April 12th (Grad Students) and Sunday Apriil 28th (Undergaduate Students).
2) Purchase/Rent your regalia from the UO Duck Store. You can shop for regalia at the UO Duck Store during the Grad Fair (April 8th-11th) or purchase regalia online (UO Duck Store) starting on April 12th.
I applied to graduate in DuckWeb. Is there anything else I need to do?
No! Once you have applied to graduate in DuckWeb your name and information will automatically be included in the RL departmental ceremony program. (However, you do need to order your graduation regalia . . . .)
I am graduating with a minor in SPAN/ITAL/FR, can I come to the RL ceremony?
Yes! You are welcome to come the the RL ceremony if you have a minor in one of our three languages. Only graduating majors will be participating in the ceremony itself. Students with minors will NOT have their name included in the printed program, nor will they be allowed to walk across the stage. However, you are invited to enjoy the graduation cookies and lemonade that will be on hand.
